Green Clean

QUICK CONTACT FORM
at the bottom of this page.

Green Clean disposes of your trash, waste, junk or refuse in the most
environmentally-friendly and safe manner possible.

We will recycle paper, glass, metals, automotive parts, plastics and cardboard.
Medical waste, automotive fluids and household fluids are also recycled.

Onsite Wood Chipping or Stump Grinding available.

When we're on the job, we will dedicate a separate trailer or container for recycling only.

Useable clothing, furniture, books, dishes etc. are always donated to charity
and never thrown away
(charities).

WE ALSO USE BIO-DEGRADABLE TRASH BAGS!

TIP: If you go to the Sedgwick County Household Hazardous Waste Facility (on Stillwell) please be advised: IF YOU HAVE A CONTAINER THAT YOU NEED BACK, THEY WILL NOT RETURN IT TO YOU UNLESS IT HAS A LID.  ALSO: IF YOU TELL THEM THAT YOU ARE WITH A BUSINESS, BE PREPARED FOR A 30-CENT PER POUND FEE  TO DUMP.

>>> PROPER HAZARDOUS MATERIAL DISPOSAL <<<

Some companies may fall-short on prudent disposal decisions.  It can be so easy to just toss those old paint cans in the dumpster with other trash.

To be totally frank, it is not that much extra effort to load old chemicals into the back of a truck instead of the dumpster.

And when you get to the hazardous materials facility, they are always happy to see you and glad to help!

Also, dry empty cans can be recycled as metal.

Just doing our part.

Including but not limited to*: Fertilizer, Pest Control Products, Paint Products, Fuels / Oil Products, Tires,
Car Batteries, Ammunition, Laundry Products / Household Cleaners, Fluorescent Light Bulbs, etc.

*ANY UNOPENED UN-EXPIRED PRODUCTS ARE DONATED WHENEVER ACCEPTED.

Recycling and Disposal Resources Sedgwick County:

Recycling Guide SG County (TIP: Nearly ALL items that you would otherwise throw in the trash can typically be recycled!  This reduces the draw on new natural resources and keeps useable items out of the landfills):

Ammunition:
Green Clean will recycle all ammunition.
Any firearms found will be given back to the property owner or family.  Any firearms found during an eviction or abandonment cleanup will be turned over to local authorities.
Bulls Eye
1455 N. Terrace
Wichita, KS
686-7264
Accepts unused ammunition.

Appliances Working:
Green Clean will donate all working appliances to DAV, Goodwill or Salvation Army.
For working appliances, contact thrift shops or used appliance dealers, most offer free pickup.

Appliances Non-Working:
Green Clean will recycle all non-working appliances as metal.
Non-working appliances can be picked up by your trash hauler for an extra fee or may be accepted by metal scrap dealers. There may be others not listed here.  Includes Washers, Dryers, Stoves, Dishwashers, Water Heaters, etc.

NOTE: We could not find any resources in Wichita, KS for free disposal of non-working appliances with freon (i.e. air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, etc).  Local companies that accept non-working appliances will want to add a $35 fee which is the cost to recover the refrigerant.

Companies that DO accept non-working appliances either require a certified refrigerant recovery tag, the compressor and evaporator to be removed, charge a fee... or they do not even take them at all.

7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mon. - Fri.
Pays for aluminum, copper, brass, cans, radiators, steel and other metals.  Food cans NOT accepted.  TIP:  As of 09/01/11 it is now very difficult and inconvenient to recycle on the non-steel side of the complex.  In the past you could pull your truck right in and load items onto the scale.  Now you have to park in an undesignated space out in the yard and wait for a forklift worker to bring you a tub to load your items.  The inconvenience is compounded if you have multiple metals to recycle.  ALSO: Now you CANNOT KNOW the true weight since they put the bin on the scale (in contrast to in the past when you could just drop it onto the scale).  Also if it is busy plan on at least an hour wait or 30 minutes even if they are slow.  Please continue to check back, we are researching for more convenient locations.

Special Appliances with Refrigerant Section:
As mentioned, resources are limited on disposal of appliances with freon.  If you have an old non-working refrigerator out back there are options.

  • Become certified (reclamation equipment will start at around $1000):
    http://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/608/technicians/608certs.htmlhttp://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/608/608fact.html#reclaimcert

  • Check with other cities or counties.  County Resources besides SG County.

  • Some appliance dealers will take for parts.  Also consider removing the compressors and stockpiling.  Some appliance service shops will take them.

  • Check with refrigerator and air conditioner service shops.  Many will reclaim the refrigerant but THEY ALL CHARGE A FEE of some sort (some higher than the transfer stations or landfills) but may negotiate depending on what you have (also some do house-calls).

  • Many metal recyclers will indeed pick up but be sure to ask questions as to what they will do with the freon.
